FAQs

What should I expect?

Your first consultation & treatment will last approximately one hour. Your chiropractor will discuss your medical history and will make a full body assessment using his/her hands to establish the source of the problem and how it can be treated. A treatment plan will be then discussed and agreed with you before treatment commences.

Does it hurt?

Many people find the treatment relaxing, due to the gentle & holistic nature of the McTimoney adjustment, although slight discomfort may be felt in the areas where misalignment is apparent. It is common to feel a sense of balance being restored to your body and to leave the clinic feeling taller, lighter and straighter. You may also feel tired, as your body adjusts to the treatment, so we do not recommend any strenuous activity within 24 hours of a treatment.

How many treatments will I need?

Most people feel an improvement after two to six sessions. However the number of treatments may vary depending on how long you have had the problem, your age and the nature of the condition. Once the problem has been improved, we recommend regular check-ups every three to six months (depending on lifestyle) to keep your spine and other joints functioning well and to help to prevent a recurrence in future.

Can I get treatment on the NHS?

Although Chiropractic is the third largest healthcare discipline in the UK, it is currently not covered under the NHS. However more and more doctors and physiotherapists are recognising the benefits of chiropractic and may refer you. You can claim treatment costs through the following health insurance polices with whom we are a registered healthcare provider: BUPA, PPP, HSA.
